Public Consultation Meeting regarding Urban Planning By-laws

Notice to all residents:

The municipal council of Métis-sur-Mer will hold a public consultation meeting regarding the following urban planning by-laws:

  • By-law concerning the occupancy and maintenance of buildings No. 26-195

The purpose of draft by-law 26-195 is to establish standards related to the maintenance and condition of buildings and vacant lots, including requirements for cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep. It also aims to ensure that buildings intended for habitation meet minimum standards of health, safety, and occupant comfort.

  • Zoning By-law No. 26-196

The purpose of draft by-law 26-196 is to amend zoning by-law 08-38 to modify certain provisions relating to isolated residential zoning. It aims to introduce a mechanism allowing the reductions of stback requirements for buildings on a lot held in co-ownership, to maximize usable floor area for complementary uses within a principal building for certain residential zones. The by-law also provides adjustments to maximum building height, lot coverage ratios, and laterla setbacks, as well as reductions of minimum frontage width in certain zones.

  • Subdivision By-law No. 26-197

The purpose of draft by-law 26-197 is to amend subdivision by-law 08-39 to introduce new provisions governing subdivision operations, including minimum depth requirements for lots located near watercourses or lakes, and requirements concerning access to water and sewer services, as well as applicable penalties for non-compliance.

  • Construction By-law No. 26-198

The purpose of draft by-law 26-198 is to amend construction by-law 08-41 by reformulating provisions related to penalties in case of infractions.

These draft by-laws contain provisions that may be subject to approval by referendum. The affected zones include zones 49 (MTF), 50 (MTF), 52 (MTF), 53 (MTF), 63 (MTF), and 65 (MTF), as well as the corresponding zones. A portion of the territory located on Rue de l'Église, a part of the Rue Principale, and another part of the Rue Fournier is also concerned.

During the public meeting, the municipal council will explain the draft by-laws and the consequences of their adoption.

The public consultation meeting in French will be held on Monday, April 20, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Recreational Center, located on 10, rue de l'Église.

The public consultation meeting in English will be held virtually, on Zoom, on Thursday, April 23, at 7:00 p.m. :
